We've done a few SEO reviews over the past few days where the site owners have said something like "Could you please make sure our site ticks all the right boxes". This being said in a '...we are pretty sure it does but please check anyway...' tone of voice.
The interesting thing is most of these sites weren't even close to being search engine friendly, for the most part they missed even the most basic SEO on page requirements such as title elements that describe the page and HTML tagging that makes the content easy to spider and index.
I wonder if people are simply getting poor advice from web design companies who themselves still don't understand the most fundamental requirements of a website? It's as if they are following my 'How to Fail Online' check list!
